snow day

my poor blog has been abandoned lately, but i just couldn't not share these photos from our snow day.

Waking up to snow is always wonderful, uses you have to be somewhere, but that is rarely the case for me.  I actually love the quietness of snow and the sound of the snowblowers.
this is the town hall that is just across from our house, we can see it from my bedroom window.

Maine coast. Lighthouse & fishing port.


I just received my scans back  from my trip to Maine and I love them.  The New-England grays and blues and the snowy white look so good on film.

big flakes

In the blizzard you get teeny tiny flakes with  a very cold wind.  We had that last week.   I don't venture out for photos in those conditions.  Today it's warmer and we have great big flakes.  It's so pretty. I went out for some photos.  It was quick run with my camera wrapped in a plastic bag.





 


Yes the gutter fell off during one of the storms.  No-one wants to venture up there to fix it at the moment.




we both came back in with a pile of snow on our head!

ski day



Facts from our first ski day this season:
- It was -6F (-21C) when we got there. My iPhone stopped working and the screen said "it needs to cool down".
- I missed my very cool hockey stop, bumped into the 25 year instructor in front of twenty teenagers. (FYI I am tall, awkward and old on skis, so far from cool)
- I remind Dyllon how to turn with his skis, he looks back at me and says "but how do you go really fast?". - He was terribly cute with his huge goggles.
- It was -6F.
- Why am I the only adult taking lessons?
- Did I mention it was cold?

winter

it's cold but it's so beautiful!

this photo was taken with a vintage russian lens the Helios M44-2, I bought it for 30$ and love how the background/Out of focus area gives a painted effect!
