It's been very cold here:  -18C last night.
On friday, at midnight I notice that the water-heater in the attic was leaking, so I had to turn it off, and empty it. I was up until 2AM, trying not get in a panic, texting to Graham who is in the USA. It was a bit scary because it was leaking on the electric wires, and I didn't want all the water in the big container to freeze and  explode. By saturday, I managed to empty it, and run to the DIY store to get a new water-heater.  A neighbour will help me to fit it in on tuesday.  Until then I take a shower at a neighbour's house.  (I have many nice neighbours.)

On sunday morning I wake up to find there is no water at all in the house, the pipe in the street bringing water to our house had frozen.  My neighbour still had water, so I got buckets/bottles of water that I heat in pans on the 60 yr old wood burner.  Oh I heart my Rayburn, it is keeping us so nice and warm and giving us a lot of hot water!
The kids loved the excitement of living like the old days, as they say.

I am sure that in days to come we will remember the days in La Ponchardière when it froze to -18. We had such a nice day, we baked an apple crumble and made custard and ate it while watching Anne of Green Gables.

Dyllon had a bath in the kitchen.  He was so cute I had to take some photos. Can you see all the pans on the Rayburn?

Pour R.  oui je vois l'étiquette Ikea encore sur la baignoire, je suis pire que G.  ;-)
