I came across your blog again where I had written it down in a notebook. I remember that you are a pentax shooter - did you ever end up getting the Rokinon 85 mm 1.4? I'm still interested in that lens and wondered if you got it and your opinion. Love your photography!
Hi, no I haven't bought it yet, I am still looking at it :-). Are you still on your k5? I am contemplating a k3 which seems to solves some of the focusing issues I have had with my k5. Any thoughts? Thanks for the kind words.
I have a k30 which I do like. The k3 looks nice! I just got a 35 mm 2.4 lens which is nice for tighter indoor shots but the picture quality doesn't seem as nice as my 50 mm 1.4. I'm interested in the rokinah 85mm 1.4 to round things out without costing too much. I'd have to get used to manual focus but it looks like it has automatic everything else for the pentax cameras.
yes, I see what you mean about the manual focus, I don't think it's that hard, but it still makes me hesitate! I got a used zoom (for the indoors), I got the sigma 17-50 2.8, and I was surprised by how much I love it, I didn't take off the whole summer, just now I started using the 50mm again to take advantage of the 1.4 in the dark winter days. I find that the sigma focuses much faster. I started to think that I should sell it and get the 28-75 so that I can also get the longer focal length, that could be an option for you. I think the Tamron has good reviews. I use the Pentax forum for reviews :-) I thought I was prime type of girl, until I got the zoom. So easy and handy!
actually the Sigma 70mm F2.8 EX DG Macro is a good option as well, my sister in law has it, and you have Macro at the same time, the image quality seems really good. It's a bit more expensive that the Rokinon but still reasonable.
Thanks for the tips on the lenses! I've wondered about zooms, as I've only used primes so far. I may look into a zoom again. I've always heard that the image quality is better on a prime (I love my 50 mm 1.4, but I'm certainly not in love with the 35 mm 2.4, but that shouldn't surprise me as it wasn't very expensive) It will be nice for indoor group shots. I've only used it for a few days, so I may just need to get used to it. The sigma 70 2.8 and the Tamron zoom are about $200 more than the Rokinon, but might be worth it for the auto focus. I have heard great things about the Tamron zoom as well. I certainly have time to think about it!
